Manchhar our Dal Lake

While occupied Kashmir has famed Dal Lake with boats and inhabitants which is teaming with tourist, we have a much bigger Manchhar lake in SINDH, which is yet to be discovered by tourist.
Manchhar
Lake is located only 9 KM away from Sehwan Sharif off the main road leading out towards Dadu. From Sehwan it can be reached by Rickshaw inexpensively.
Passing through farms when one comes near the embarked lake the glow of water reflected on the sky fills one with anticipation. Once over the embankment one is transferred in a different world of tranquility and peace. The vast lake with water extending beyond vision takes ones breath away.
The water is calm and blue and full of life. While fish swim below birds of exotic kinds fly around.
A large number of fisher men live in and around the lake. Many families prefer to live in boats or small islands in the lake.
People in the area are very poor but very generous and hospitable. They are very happy to see tourist and prospect of some additional income.
One can take a round in a small boat for one or two hours or hire a larger boat for the whole day or even night at reasonable price. The short tour takes one towards center of the lake while an extended tour may take one to the other side of the lake at the foot of mountain and some shrines.
Manchhar
Lake is a natural reservoir surrounded by hills form three sides. It takes water from Indus when it overflows and returns water when there is shortage. If it is deepened it can accommodate lot more water than at present at a very reasonable cost. It can thus partly solve Sindh's problem of water shortage and storage.
People of Pakistan should patronize this natural gift and enjoy its beauty. Only after a visit one can appreciate the value of having one of the largest lakes in the world, so close to home.
It is a shame that hardly any tourist visit this place although it is so close to major cities like Karachi and Hyderabad.
Given regular bus service to Sehwan, the cost of the trip with family, is affordable for an average middle class families.

I whole heartedly recommend this site for a visit.
